Attached is a copy of the report published in my August 4 newsletter (see link above) concerning the probable economic, traffic, and social effects on Toowoomba and its region of the impending huge coal project at Felton East.
The report was offered, previewed and okayed by the Friends of Felton executive.
I intend further examining this matter in the next weekly edition, Monday, August 18, of the newsletter www.hughbingham.blogspot.com which is attracting gratifying response.
I ask for your comments on the following, including:
>> Do you agree the adverse impacts on Toowoomba will resemble those listed in the report? If not, in what way will they differ?
>> What forward infrastructure and social planning do you believe should be undertaken – and in what time frame?
>> As the huge tonnage of coal produced - as well as the materials required to implement the project – will have to move up and down the presently traffic-saturated Range Crossing, how do you propose traffic planning should deal with this?. And additionally on the connecting highways?
If you intend to respond, please let me have your comments, as brief and pointed as possible, no later than Saturday midday, August 16, 2008, emailed to hughbingham@bigpond.com
